Announcing the SAAWG Gender Lens Political Panel Discussion 2024

The South African Association of Women Graduates (SAAWG) in collaboration with the Stellenbosch Institute of Advanced Studies (STIAS) is proud to present the highly anticipated SAAWG Gender Lens Political Panel Discussion 2024. This engaging event will take place on Wednesday, 8th May 2024, from 17:30 to 20:30, chaired by the esteemed Prof Amanda Gouws from Stellenbosch University.

Join us as we delve into crucial political issues through a gender-sensitive perspective, featuring representatives from prominent political parties:

1. ActionSA

  • Notukela Makhohliso: Notukela brings a wealth of experience as a social justice advocate and award-winning businesswoman. She is ActionSA’s Western Cape Disability Forum chairperson and incoming shadow minister for Social Development.

2. ANC

  • Nomi D Nkondlo: Serving as the ANC Member of Provincial Parliament in the Western Cape, Nomi holds key positions including spokesperson, Shadow Minister of Finance, Economic Development, & Tourism. Her expertise extends to chairing the Economic Transformation Committee.

3. DA

  • Dr Annelie Lotriet: Dr. Lotriet’s impressive background includes academia and politics. Currently, as the Deputy Chairperson of Federal Council, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the discussion.

4. GOOD

  • Joy Davids: Joy’s extensive experience as the Deputy Director at the SA Law School and her commitment to activism make her a valuable addition to the panel. She also serves as GOOD Disabilities Representative.

5. Rise Mzansi

  • Fhatuwani Muswobi: Fhatuwani’s dedication to social justice and gender equality, coupled with her legal background, promises insightful contributions to the discussion. She is the Convenor of UWC for Rise Mzansi.

6. MK

  • Alana James: Alana’s expertise as an Innovation & Solutions Strategist and her passion for equitable healthcare and economic growth position her as a dynamic panelist. She currently serves as the Provincial Treasurer of MK Party in the Western Cape.
